In brief

Irina Norton

I was born and raised in Moscow, the city that stole my heart. It gave me loads of happy memories and friends for life.

After graduating from Moscow State University I worked in Recruitment and Real Estate Agencies before coming to the UK in 1998. I now live in Essex with my two children.

Being conveniently located near Stansted airport gives me an opportunity to accommodate short notice assignments around Europe as well as some other locations around the world.

I also live in close proximity to London and Cambridge, both being business and scientific centres attracting a lot of interest from around the globe. I provide my interpreting services for conferences and business meetings.

I have been working as a public service interpreter since 2004 and in 2011 I graduated from London Metropolitan University where I received training in Conference Interpreting.

I have been living in the UK for 16 years and can honestly say that it has been a life changing experience. There is a presumption that British people are very reserved and do not accept outsiders easily. Perhaps this is right to a certain extent, but looking on the bright side of things, once you are in you are in for a big treat. Brits are very generous, kind, fun loving, lovely people and I am very fortunate to have made amazing friends on this soil.

Being a conference and public service interpreter, one needs a lot of stamina to work under strenuous conditions in either conference or public service environment. Six years ago I joined Essex Boot Camp and have been training regularly since. I also love horse riding and, although I cannot commit to it fully, I still enjoy it on occasions.
